This is my next post on what to do in Port Douglas and what to do in Cairns. Actually this post is more like “what to do on a day trip to the Daintree Rainforest”.
Most of you wont know about the Daintree Wild Zoo! My good mate Gill and his wife Donna have put together what can only be described as a real Zoo, What do I mean by that, well you get right up close and personal with the animals and the zoo has literally been carved out of their own backyard.
There is an amazing selection of birds, including quite an array of Owls; I never knew there were so many different freaky looking owls around. Gills passion for birds, yes the feathered variety, has caused him to expand an enormous collection of our feathered friends.
But I must say my favorite at the Daintree Wild Zoo is the Quoll, these little guys are a cross between a Tasmanian Devil, quokka, dog and cat. Sounds odd doesn’t it. But trust me they are cool little guys.
Of course they have the standard Crocodiles and local stuff, but what really makes a trip to the Daintree wild zoo on the list of things to do in Port Douglas is not only its close proximity to Port Douglas (about 40 mins North) but the relaxed atmosphere at the Zoo. Chances are you will have it all to yourself.
So don’t go past the Daintree Wild Zoo on your day trip to the Daintree Rainforest.
