Good morning all, another post in the “things to do in Port Douglas and things to do in Cairns” series. Well as the weather turns away from the beach and the Reef there are so many more things to see and do. This is one of my all time favorites!

So for things to do in Port Douglas or things to do in Cairns there is no better day out than a drive through the Atherton Tablelands, or the Cairns Highlands (as some of the Marketing people want us to call it).

The Atherton tablelands is the largest area in Australia for growing Arabica beans, they produce some beautiful coffees from numerous coffee plantations.

Today Ill talk about the Mareeba Coffee works. For a minimal entry fee of only 20 bucks you get an endless tasting cup, they have a great selection of coffees, teas, and the best part; chocolate! Mmmm chocolate…

There is approximately 20 different coffees to choose from , a few are locally grown, other are imported and blended at Mareeba coffee works. Also as there is tea in the region, there are a few different blends of Tea to taste.

Oh, did I mention Coffee, well for things to do in Port Douglas and Cairns, I say eat chocolate. And you can at the Mareeba Coffee works, trust me when I say they don’t mind how much you have! It is mind blowing chocolate with flavours that astounds the senses.

Once you have had your fill of Coffee, Tea and of course, chocolate then into the Museum you go. They have an amazing collection of coffee paraphernalia to excite both the coffee addict and the occasional drinker at the same time.

I assure you for things to do in Port Douglas and things to do in Cairns, when the weather isn’t 100% for many activities talke a drive to the Atherton Tablelands and visit the Mareeba Coffee Works.

You will not be disappointed.
